Two men have been charged with kidnapping at common law, robbery with aggravation and wounding with intent following an incident on Sunday, January 14.
They are 31-year-old Phillip Robinson, otherwise called Shawn, a labourer of Rectory Road, Clarendon and 21-year-old Asham Gallimore, also of Rectory Road.
Reports are that around 2:15 p.m., a man boarded a taxi in Palmer’s Cross, Clarendon with the driver and a passenger onboard.
Upon reaching his destination, the man reportedly asked to be let off, however, the driver refused to stop.
He was reportedly later robbed of his Samsung Galaxy A13 cellphone valued at $25,000 and $10,000 cash.
The man was taken to a section of River Heights in the parish, where he was reportedly beaten. He managed to escape his attackers and was chopped in the process. He later made a report to the police and was assisted to the hospital, where he was treated.
Robinson and Gallimore were taken into custody the following day. Charges were laid against the men on Friday, December 19, following an identification parade.
The two are set to appear in the Clarendon Parish Court in May Pen on Thursday, January 25.
