Barnett, a cousin of slain mother-of-four Kemisha Wright, was initially listed by Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson as a person of interest.

The lifeless bodies of the 31-year-old mother and her four children—5-year-old Kimana Smith, 10-year-old Shemari Smith; five-year-old Kafana Smith and Kishaun Henry, a 23-month-old infant—were discovered at home with their throats slashed.

Reading Time: 3 minutesThe Government of Jamaica yesterday advanced its national recovery efforts with the official handover of Restoration of Owner-Occupant Family Shelters (ROOFS) grants to beneficiaries in Westmoreland, marking another milestone under the Shelter Recovery Programme (SRP).

Speaking at the handover ceremony at Sean Lavery Faith Hall, Minister of Labour and Social Security, Pearnel Charles Jr., described the initiative as a restoration of “safety, stability, and dignity” for families whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Melissa. The families gathered here are not statistics; they are Jamaicans who deserve secure homes and the opportunity to rebuild with confidence.”
