For the better part of three decades, Bill and Hilary Clinton have been accomplished major personalities on the American political landscape and remain a powerhouse in the Democratic Party.
Bill Clinton had a good record as President. He had a high favourability rating and was revered. Charismatic, politically astute he managed to balance the budget.
His wife, Hilary, is very educated and dynamic. She is professional and capable, and as Bill Clinton said, America was getting two for the price of one. It comes as little surprise that with her skillsets and work ethic, she went on to become a senator, secretary of state and the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee.
She has always conducted herself with dignity and class and has not in any way been the architect of salacious shenanigans or unsavoury contretemps.
Therefore, it comes as a surprise that she had to sit for over six hours before a Congressional committee answering questions about sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a man she had never ever met or had interactions with.
After the grilling she endured, nothing of consequence was ascertained. Quite frankly, it was a waste of time. She faced the press unruffled and said they asked her all sorts of questions, including those about Pizzagate and UFOs.
What was attempted here was to use her to skewer her husband, but the lady had nothing to do with Epstein and his co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell. One doubts whether she would associate herself with such slimy characters.
Politics is a dirty game, and enemies will do anything to nail opponents to the cross and diminish them. That’s what occurred here. There was no need to subject Hillary Clinton to this.
It is a credit to the former Secretary of State that she handled herself with decorum and did not lose her cool.
Yes, her husband did know Jeffrey Epstein, and they did hang out. One supposes this was the justification for investigating whether he knew about Epstein’s despicable abuses and the damage he did to so many young women, and whether Bill Clinton was a participant.

Bill Clinton is not that kind of guy. Yes, his past with women has left a stain on his vast accomplishments, and that is what his political opponents used to fish for his ultimate humiliation.
Sorry to disappoint you all.
The Clinton Foundation does good and meaningful work, and the man needed donations. Epstein contributed in that regard, and they got to know each other and hung out. How was Bill Clinton supposed to know that Epstein was a paedophile and a sexual abuser of young women?
Bill Clinton is a cool cat and closing in on 80, still is. He is a stimulating companion, and people like him. Many celebrities who hung out with him at Epstein’s parties. It doesn’t mean that the man did anything wrong.
Hauled before this committee would have got him in the dog house with the missus, but something tells me Hillary would know what is really going on here and see the take-down move by right-wing haters who have long sought to extinguish them both.
This is what transpired here.
Bill Clinton is a personable, fun-loving guy who is very intelligent and articulate. How is he supposed to know who was in a swimming pool with him decades ago? Would you?
Donald Trump has said he didn’t like to see what Bill Clinton was subjected to and didn’t believe he did anything wrong. He went on to add that he took no delight in it. I don’t think his MAGA associates would share that view.

Clinton conducted himself well at the committee hearing, and yes, it would be difficult “to recall” so many instances that took place decades ago. In the end, there was nothing on him. Both Bill and Hillary Clinton have been open and forthright. They have asked for full disclosure, and that is testament to their character.
Everybody wants to know who knew what and who participated in sordid acts- let’s have it out, let all be revealed.
This move now opens the door for President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, to be hauled in before a committee on the Epstein files. The Democrats will seek revenge for the ignominy the Clintons faced. This was a dangerous endeavour made with little foresight. They sought to humiliate the Clintons, and this may very well backfire.
Below is a statement from Bill Clinton to the Congressional Committee:
“Good morning. Welcome to Chappaqua.
I’m here today for two reasons. The first is that I love my country. And America was built upon the idea that no person is above the law, even Presidents—especially Presidents.
Democracy requires every person to play their part, and I hope that by being here today, we can bring ourselves a little further away from the brink and back to being a country where we can disagree with one another civilly—where the search for truth and justice outweighs the partisan urge to score points and create spectacle. I’ll do my part, and I hope you’ll do yours.
The second reason I’m here is that the girls and women whose lives Jeffrey Epstein destroyed deserve not only justice, but healing. They’ve been waiting too long for both. Though my brief acquaintance with Epstein ended years before his crimes came to light, and though I never witnessed during our limited interactions any indication of what was truly going on, I am here to offer what little I know so that it might prevent anything like this from ever happening again.
But before we start, I have to get personal. You made Hillary come in. She had nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein. Nothing. She has no memory of even meeting him. She neither traveled with him nor visited any of his properties. Whether you subpoenaed 10 people or 10,000, including her was simply not right.
We began this hearing with me raising my hand and taking an oath to tell the truth. But everyone has a responsibility to be honest with those they represent. Whether you raised your right hand or not, each and every one of us owes nothing less than truth and accuracy to the American people.
Now, let me say what you’re going to hear from me.
First, I had no idea of the crimes Epstein was committing. No matter how many photos you show me, I have two things that at the end of the day matter more than your interpretation of those 20-year-old photos.

I know what I saw, and more importantly, what I didn’t see.
I know what I did, and more importantly, what I didn’t do.
I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong.
As someone who grew up in a home with domestic abuse, not only would I not have flown on his plane if I had any inkling of what he was doing—I would have turned him in myself and led the call for justice for his crimes, not sweetheart deals.
But even with 20/20 hindsight, I saw nothing that ever gave me pause. We are only here because he hid it from everyone so well for so long. And by the time it came to light with his 2008 guilty plea, I had long stopped associating with him.
You’ll often hear me say that I don’t recall. That might be unsatisfying. But I’m not going to say something I’m not sure of. This was all a long time ago. And I am bound by my oath not to speculate, or to guess. This is not merely for my benefit, but because it doesn’t help you for me to play detective 24 years later.
Since I am under oath, I will not falsely state that I am looking forward to your questions. But I am ready to answer them to the best of my abilities, consistent with the facts as I know them: the legitimate, the logical, and even the outlandish.
With that, Mr Chairman, fire away.”
