Last month, Bill and Hillary Clinton were adamant that they both would not make an appearance before Congress concerning investigations into now dead convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein.

It would be embarrassing to have a former President answer personal questions and be exposed by his political enemies before the world.

Many Republicans pushed to have the Clintons held for criminal contempt of Congress, which would further be damaging to their reputations. President Clinton has already been impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice back in the 90s. 

Representative James Comer of Kentucky has vociferously pursued President Bill Clinton and wants him to face questions concerning Jeffrey Epstein.

Now some Democrats are insisting that the Clintons testify before the House Oversight Committee and comply with a wish for greater transparency into this case, which has gripped American politics.

Pictures of  President Bill Clinton have emerged from the Epstein Files, but they have been innocuous, with nothing to suggest he sexually abused women.

President Trump and the Republicans have long sought to connect Bill Clinton to Epstein as a participant in heinous acts. President Clinton has always insisted he did nothing untoward and was promoting and seeking funding for the Clinton Foundation. 

The Monica Lewinsky affair, which damaged his presidency, has again been raised and Clinton’s penchant for sexual escapades with women has come back to haunt him, dragging his wife into a matter she has no knowledge of. Hillary Clinton has never had an association or met Jeffrey Epstein.

The relentless pressure has now seen the Clintons both agree to come in to testify, and the questions will make President Clinton squirm. 

President Clinton has insisted he never visited Epstein’s private island, Little Saint James and never partook in aberrant sexual practices. 

Some Democrats are of the view that if the Clintons have nothing to hide and everything is above board, then they should willingly come and testify in Congress. 

Others feel this is a victory for President Trump and he has succeeded in belittling one of their most successful Presidents in modern times.

The record shows that President Clinton took many flights on Epstein’s private jet, and that will come up in the hearing.

Those close to Hillary Clinton have said her husband’s adventures have served to undermine all they have achieved.

The Republicans have rejected the Clintons’ demand for a closed filmed interview and are insisting on a full appearance before the members in public.

The Clintons will now sit for testimony with the House Oversight Committee; Hillary on the 26th of February 2026 and Bill Clinton on February 27th, 2026. They both will now avoid contempt proceedings.

“After delaying and defying duly issued subpoenas for six months…. We look forward to now questioning the Clintons as part of our investigation into the horrific crimes of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to deliver transparency and accountability for the American people and for survivors,” wrote Representative James Comer.

“Bill and Hillary decided they’d rather talk about Bill’s escapades with Epstein than spend time in prison (which is where they were headed). Also, I’m not suicidal and don’t plan on disappearing anytime soon,” wrote Representative Lauren Boebert on X.

If the Clintons had continued to refuse to come before Congress, they would have faced a misdemeanour fine of $100,000 and up to a year in jail.

This sets a precedent, and the Democrats will likely seek revenge when they are next in power.

“We are absolutely going to have Donald Trump testify under oath when Democrats take back power,” said California Representative Ted Lieu.

“The precedent it sets is that Donald Trump better be showing up before Oversight on the Epstein matter. I hope Cower will pursue that with the same zeal he pursued the Clintons,” said Representative Ro Khanna.
