Over 1,689 patients recently benefited from clinics done by the Great Shape iCare volunteers at the Open Bible Church in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.

Meanwhile, in Montego Bay at the Cornwall Regional Hospital, 49 patients received cataract surgery, 28 MIG surgeries (for glaucoma), 23 PRP laser procedures (for diabetic retinopathy), and one retinopexy (repair detached retina).

The team also distributed 50 prescription glasses and are set to dispense another 566 custom pairs to in January.

Along with these services, thousands of reading and sunglasses were dispensed, lots of medications, and hundreds of hypertension tests were done, alongside education on healthy lifestyles.

Expressing satisfaction with the success of the clinics done in Westmoreland, team lead for the Great Shape iCare volunteers Steven Stern shared that the services offered will be life-changing for the beneficiaries. Importantly, too, he said that the initiative would not have been possible without the incredible team at Sandals South Coast and Sandals Foundation, which have been partnering with the Great Shape Inc for 20 years by going above and beyond the call of duty to assist with the logistics of clinics, transport, and meals!
