

A road collision in St Catherine left sections of the parish without electricity for several hours on Christmas Day (December 25).
The Jamaica Public Service reported via its X account on Wednesday that it dispatched its team members “in response to a motor vehicle accident which caused power outage to sections of St. Catherine at approximately 6:02 am”.
The areas affected by the power outage included the communities of Greendale, Lauriston, St Jago Heights, Mount View, Keystone, Tredegar Park, Waterloo, St Jago Hills, Tryall Heights, Montague Heights and their environs.
Our Today was unable to ascertain the state of the driver though there were no deaths associated with the collision.

“Teams have completed initial isolation of the affected area, restoring power to some customers,” JPS posted at 8:48 am.
Around 4:30 pm, the electricity provider shared that it had restored service to most customers in the affected area, adding that the repair team was “working to restore power to all affected customers in the shortest possible time.”
