

The newly elected executive committee of the Consular Corps of Jamaica (CCJ) paid a courtesy call on Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen, who received them recently at King’s House.
Freshly from their participation in the Diplomatic Week organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, they were able to brief Sir Patrick on the details of their involvement.
The new dean of the Consular Corps, Andrew Issa, Honorary Consul General of Norway and Honorary Consul of Finland, introduced the members of his executive committee in attendance: vice dean Yodit Hylton, Hon. Consul of Ethiopia; secretary Lisa Johnston Hon. Consul of Costa Rica; Treasurer Indera Persaud, Hon. Consul of Guyana; immediate past dean Robert Scott Hon Consul of Lithuania; and other members of the committee Clelia Barreto de Hunter, Hon. Consul of Ecuador; Irena Cousins Hon Consul General of Poland and Nicole Foga Hon. Consul of Romania.
The dean outlined several initiatives planned for his tenure and expressed a commitment to fostering greater collaboration with King’s House, pledging the CCJ’s commitment to provide support for a charity initiative selected by the governor-general.

Past contributions by the Consular Corps, include the development of the Consuls Tea Garden repairs to the fountain at King’s House, and support for the I Believe Initiative.
Sir Patrick thanked the CCJ for their continued support and commended its ongoing efforts in strengthening international relations and contributing to national development.
Established in 1948, the Consular Corps of Jamaica represents honorary consuls from 51 countries worldwide and serves as a vital link in promoting diplomatic and cultural ties.

This meeting underscored the shared commitment to advancing partnerships that benefit Jamaica and its global partners, and the governor-general reaffirmed his support for initiatives that align with the vision for sustainable growth and international cooperation.
