The Jamaica Constabulary Force says it will leave no stone unturned in its investigation into the shooting death of Corporal Kamal Mayne, who was killed at his home on Saturday (May 17).
Police investigators scoured the slain corporal’s Charlemont Drive residence and its environs for clues in a vow to bring the perpetrators to justice.
A 20-plus-year law enforcement career abruptly ended for Corporal Mayne, who was attached to the Darling Street Police Station in West Kingston.
Preliminary reports indicate that police were alerted by Mayne’s family around 5:30 am yesterday when the corporal was found unresponsive at the front of his yard.
“On the arrival of the lawmen, Corporal Mayne was found beside his motor car with a gunshot wound to his head. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” a Police High Command statement read.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Richard Stewart, who visited the scene on Saturday morning, reassured the police fraternity that no resources would be spared as the police pursue the criminals responsible for the corporal’s murder.
Stewart, who heads the JCF’s crime and security portfolio, pledged that the policeman’s killers will be found and brought before the court.
