Samanta Saugh has been appointed in an acting capacity as Group Chief Financial Officer with effect from May 15, 2022

Guardian Holdings Limited, Chief Financial Officer, David Maraj has resigned from the company, reportedly over a difference of opinion on how the publicly traded company in Trinidad and Jamaica should deal with deferred taxes in its first-quarter financials.

Guardian Holdings’ Chief Executive Officer Ravi Tewari declined to give details of the circumstances that led to Maraj’s sudden departure from the Trinidad-based insurance led holding company.

Guardian Holding said it was pleased to advise that Samanta Saugh has been appointed in an acting capacity as group chief financial officer with effect from May 15. Guardian Holdings is majority owned by NCB Financial Group, which is headquartered in Jamaica.

Changes at Jamaican Teas Finance and Audit Committee

Manufacturing company, Jamaican Teas Limited has advised that, on March 21, Dr Damien King was appointed chairman of the company’s Finance and Audit Committee. The Jamaican listed company has also advised that, on March 21, John Jackson and John Mahfood demitted office as members of the company’s Finance and Audit Committee.

The current members of the Audit and Finance Committee are Damien King, Joan Brown and Suzette Smellie-Tomlinson.

Two changes at QWI Investments Audit Committee

Investment outfit, QWI Investments Limited is advising that Evan Thwaites was appointed as a member of its  Audit Committee on April 1. QWI, which is the investment subsidiary of the Jamaican Teas Group, has also advised that, on April 1, Cameron Burnet demitted office as a member of its Audit Committee.

QWI has further advised that the current members of the Audit Committee are Carl Carby, Malcolm McDonald, Evan Thwaites and David Stephens.
