New group COO at Guardian Holdings
Guardian Holdings Limited (GHL) is announcing the appointment of Greer Quan as its new group chief operating officer, effective January 1. Quan joins GHL with over 17 years of distinguished experience in the financial services sector.

Sir Hilary Beckles appointed UN University chancellor
Sir Hilary Beckles, vice chancellor of The University of the West Indies (UWI), has been appointed chairman/chancellor of the United Nations University.
This appointment follows a sitting of the university’s governance council on December 7, 2024 in Tokyo, Japan. Beckles’ appointment takes effect in May 2025.
In accepting the appointment, Beckles thanked members of the university’s council and representatives of the United Nations as well as other organisations for their expression of confidence. He assured them that as the university enters its 50th year, under the management of its esteemed vice-chancellor and the guidance of the council, it will continue to rise as one of the finest global universities.
Leadership changes at MFS Capital Partners
MFS Capital Partners Limited (MFS) has announced that Kamille Martin has rejoined the organisation and assumed the role of chief financial officer. This appointment took effect on November 18, 2024.
With over 16 years of expertise in auditing and accounting, including 13 years in senior leadership roles, Martin brings a wealth of knowledge in financial management reporting and internal process optimisation. Her extensive experience will play a pivotal role as we work to enhance our financial and operational frameworks and drive the expansion of our group of companies.
The company is also advising of the resignation of Dr Kesha Christie as the chief financial officer effective August 30, 2024. Robert Barnes, who currently holds the CFO position, will oversee those responsibilities.
T&TEC appoints new general manager
Chrisalston Belle has been appointed Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission’s (T&TEC) new general manager. He replaces Curvis Francois, who retired last November after 38 years of service.
Belle is an electrical engineer who holds a BSc in electrical and computer engineering from the University of the West Indies. He was confirmed as an engineer in 1994, having graduated from T&TEC’s two-year Engineer-in-Training programme.
During his 32-year career, Belle held senior positions in the transmission and distribution divisions and was last responsible for T&TEC’s technical division, having been appointed as chief technical officer in 2020.
In this position, Belle directed the operations of all distribution areas, public lighting, transmission development and engineering services, transmission maintenance, system control and generation interface, system planning and research, civil engineering and facilities management, distribution planning and support, protection and SCADA, communications and the Cove Power Station.
TSTT chairman resigns
Still in Trinidad and Tobago, Sean Roach is stepping down from his position as chairman of the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT). This was confirmed by Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonzales, who said Roach had discussed the matter with him and wanted time to deal with some urgent personal family matters.
Roach’s resignation will take effect later this month. Asked who will be replacing Roach, Gonzales said: “None one as yet.” Roach was first appointed TSTT chairman on February 7, 2020, then reappointed to the position on March 15, 2022, and in March 2024.
TSTT is jointly owned by National Enterprises Limited (NEL) and Cable and Wireless (West Indies). NEL, which is majority-owned by the Government, owns 51 per cent of TSTT’s issued share capital, while Cable and Wireless holds the remaining 49 per cent.
