Caribbean Assurance Brokers has advised of the resignation of Kimloy Walker, compliance manager, effective yesterday, August 9.

The company has thanked Walker for her stellar involvement in the Compliance Unit and wished her all the best in future endeavours.

Joanna Banks resigns from PanJam Group board

Corporate executive, Joanna Banks, has tendered her resignation from the board of directors of PanJAM Group, with effect from July 31.

PanJAM expresses its sincere gratitude to Banks for her significant contribution to the Board of Directors. Last month Sagicor advised that Banks tendered her resignation as a director of Sagicor Group Jamaica and the following subsidiaries: Sagicor Life Jamaica, Sagicor Bank Jamaica and Sagicor Investments Jamaica.

Her resignation took effect June 30.

Death of Image Plus director

Image Plus Consultants has advised of the sudden and untimely passing of Dr Leon Vaughan, a major shareholder and director on the board.

Vaughan died on August 5.

New UWI pro vice-chancellor appointed

Professor Derek Chadee has been appointed pro vice-chancellor of The UWI Board for undergraduate studies.

Chadee’s three-year appointment took effect on August 1. As pro vice-chancellor, he will oversee the Office of the Board for Undergraduate Studies, which is charged with responsibility for policy, quality and regionalism in developing and coordinating policy initiatives to guide all aspects of undergraduate and sub-degree programming at The UWI and its regional and global affiliates.

This includes articulating, implementing and managing The UWI’s academic quality assurance enhancement system; and the preservation of the regional mandate of The UWI in its undergraduate academic delivery. Chadee, a Fulbright scholar, joined the St Augustine campus of The UWI in 1995 as an assistant lecturer and was promoted to professor of social psychology in 2013.

UWI appoints new dean of the Faculty of Law

Former head of the Department of Law at the University of Guyana, Dr Alicia Elias, is the new dean of the Faculty of Law at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine campus in Trinidad and Tobago.

Professing to be “deeply honoured and humbled” at being given the opportunity to play a strategic role at the UWI law faculty, Elias said all praises were “due to God”.
