The Supreme Court has ruled that the interdiction of the chairman of the Jamaica Police Federation, Corporal Rohan James, will remain until the judicial review has been decided.
Hugh Wildman, the attorney-at-law representing James, told Our Today that the court has decided to uphold the interdiction, but that he retains 99 per cent of his salary and that there is a halt on all disciplinary proceedings until the outcome of the judicial review on September 28.

He explained that James’ legal team is in the process of trying to get him reinstated earlier than September 28. The aim is to expedite the process and have James back on active duty as soon as possible.
James’ removal from active duty also impacts his function as chairman of the police union, which is currently being run by the general secretary.
The police union chief was placed on interdiction on July 26 by the police commissioner for making remarks that have been deemed to be unprofessional and a violation of the Police Service Regulations.
