Courts Jamaica Limited has bolstered services offered at the St Andrew Justice Centre through the donation of two laptop computers, one to the St Andrew Justice of the Peace Association (SAJPA) and the other to the Office of the Custos.

The laptop computers will improve operational efforts with database management, facilitating the reporting requirements of JPs and revamping of the website to include tracking of JPs. The handover was made on February 2 at the St Andrew Justice Centre.

“In January 2022 I was sworn in as the Custos Rotulorum for the parish of St Andrew. This parish has more than 2,500 justices of the peace, the largest number of all parishes in Jamaica. In assuming office, it became clear that several processes were manual and inefficient. In an effort to improve the operations of the office and better manage the administration of activities. I appealed for assistance” explained Ian Fobes, custos rotulorum for St Andrew.

The computers were donated to assist with the delivery of services from the Office of the Custos of St Andrew and the St Andrew Justice of the Peace Association. The Office of the Custos and the SAJPA received two Lenovo Idea Pad 15-inch PCs with touch screen user interface. The new technology will significantly improve the level of service delivered through the respective offices. Both units were secured at a cost of $250,000.

“Courts has been a part of Jamaica for the better part of 6 decades and we have been able to sustain that momentum because we are close to the communities we serve, consistently looking at ways to improve the services they receive. The parishes of Kingston and St Andrew have the largest number of JPs anywhere on the island but also the largest population of citizens. This means that service efficiency must be improved and maintained to adequately serve the population and so we are proud to have assisted the Office of the Custos in this way,” said Simone Mahabeer, brand manager for Courts Jamaica.

Courts Jamaica is a member of the Unicomer Group, the owners, and operators of Courts, Courts Optical, Courts Ready Cash, Ashley Furniture HomeStore, Radio Shack and Lucky Dollar.
