Courts Ready Cash continued its island-wide water tank initiative with its ninth donation to Waterford Primary School in St Catherine on Thursday (March 7).
The water tank initiative, which has consistently made waves since its launch in July 2023, brought new options for water sustainability to the St Catherine-based institution and the surrounding community.
The ongoing donations form part of the brand’s ethos of being a responsible corporate citizen, committed to improving the lives of customers and the communities which the company serves. Through the donation of water tanks, the brand strives to create opportunities for water harvesting and storage ensuring the availability of potable water in schools.
A total of nine water tanks have been handed over by Courts Ready Cash so far, including prior donations to Clonmel Primary and Infant School and Bromley Primary in St. Mary, Windsor Castle Primary & Infant School in Portland, Brixton Hill Primary and Kellits High School both in Clarendon, Duckenfield Primary in St. Thomas, Mount Ward Primary in Hanover and Gaynstead High School in Kingston. The journey continues with St. Andrew this month.
At the handover ceremony held on the school compound, Stephney Webb-Parker, senior regional officer in the Ministry of Education and Youth representing Minister Fayval Williams, expressed “It’s a very good thing and Courts Ready Cash, I want to salute you.”
“This gift is no ordinary gift, we are grateful that you saw it fit to provide for our schools with this instrument at a time like this, that will hold this precious commodity of water. When there is disruption with the water supply it impacts our schooling and face-to-face learning and many times school has to end abruptly because there is no water …water is life and we thank you for enabling us to continue education even when there are disruptions
The Ministry of Education wants to thank you for seeing it fit to step in to support like this. This public-private partnership is something that we are embracing, we are asking our corporate sponsors to do more for our school as while the government of Jamaica does its best many things will help a school to grow and we really depend on your help where that is concerned.”
Courts Ready Cash was lauded for its continued commitment to national development by school principal Nicola Francis Grizzelle.

“Today I am standing here really grateful to Courts Ready Cash for this token at this time when we are experiencing water lock off daily, I’m happy for the gesture as school is a partnership and together, we build as our motto says Together we Build to move this school forward. The Family of Waterford Primary would like to say thank you for choosing our school,” she articulated.
For his part, Member of Parliament South East St. Catherine, Robert Miller stated, “We want to thank you for selecting Waterford Primary to donate this tank to. We are strong believers that it takes an entire community to build our education system so with this gesture we want to say thanks again to Courts Ready Cash and we are looking for greater things to come in the future.”
Councillor-elect, Fenley Douglas opined, “This is a beautiful gesture, one that couldn’t be more timely because this tank came at a time when in Portmore most of our schools are suffering from a chronic water shortage and I am happy that Courts Ready Cash saw it fit to make the donation to this institution. There is always beauty in public-private partnership and again I would like to say thank you very much on behalf of our community.”
Toni Ann Latty, marketing and PR officer of Courts Ready Cash expressed, “The brand recognises the need for access to potable water in communities severely impacted by drought and water shortage conditions”.
“With the donation of 1,000-gallon polyethylene water tanks, to select Primary and Secondary schools, the brand is looking to improve water harvesting and storage opportunities. When there is no water available in schools, there are significant inconveniences for students, sometimes the schools are closed all together. We trust that through the donation of water tanks we will limit and eventually irradicate this inconvenience,” she added.
