

Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine shipments continue across sections of the Caribbean this week, as the COVAX Facility has completed deliveries in five countries.
Some 415,200 jabs of highly sought vaccines are to be shipped through the region by May 14, according to the Pan-American Health Organization’s (PAHO) COVAX delivery itinerary.
Guyana was the first on the receiving end, having accepted another 38,400 jabs of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Monday (May 10). Other CARICOM member states Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname followed closely with 33,600 and 28,800 shots respectively.

On Tuesday, Barbados was availed a shipment of 33,600 doses, while the Bahamas collected an identical tranche of vaccines.
St Lucia and Belize are the two next countries to benefit on May 12, with separate deliveries of 26,400 and 33,600 shots.
The Dominican Republic is the last stop on Caribbean shipments this week, as it expects to receive 187,200 doses on Friday, May 14.
By that time, the COVAX Facility would have delivered some 914,400 doses to 16 Caribbean countries and territories since March 15.
