Premier commercial telecommunications and ICT solutions provider, C&W Business, has signed on as lead sponsor of the inaugural Telehealth: Caribbean Connected conference.

The three-day event kicks off today (August 18) and will be attended by regional healthcare executives, physicians, healthcare professionals, government officials and technocrats, and other key stakeholders.

Telehealth refers to the provision of healthcare remotely by means of telecommunications technology. In developing countries, like Jamaica, robust telehealth programmes can significantly increase healthcare access for the most vulnerable, improve public health systems, and create a more responsive and interconnected health network.

Delroy McLean, senior director at C&W Business, stated, “Our sponsorship of the Telehealth: Caribbean Connected conference is a testament to our unwavering commitment to innovation and our pivotal role in catalysing a technological revolution in healthcare. This event serves as an exceptional platform to showcase the potential of our solutions and engage with influential stakeholders in the industry.”

C&W Business considers itself a trailblazer in the design and implementation of technology-based products that underpin and foster national development. The company provides the telecommunications backbone for a plethora of sectors including banking and finance, hospitality, and education. C&W Business is also the technology partner of Jamaica’s Ministry of Health and Wellness in the rollout of its telemedicine programme in hospitals and health centres across the country.

With a focus on standards, best practices, sustainable business models, affordability, and cybersecurity, the Telehealth: Caribbean Connected conference is poised to unravel new opportunities and address challenges within the telehealth sector.

The conference is being hosted by the International Society of Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH). Over the last 26 years, the ISfTeH has focused on the expansion of access to care using telemedicine. The organisation is a global partner in digital health with a footprint in more than 110 countries and territories.

“We are grateful to have C&W Business as our Technology Partner for this event,” shared Roger Graham, conference chairman and chair of the ISfTeH Healthcare Disparities Working Group.

“Telemedicine connects patients and healthcare providers using the internet, so it is fitting that the largest internet provider in the region is on board for this groundbreaking event. We look forward to the rich and insightful discussions that will take place at the conference as we develop strategies to propel the region in this very important sector,” he added.

The Telehealth: Caribbean Connected conference takes place August 18-20 at the Iberostar Hotel in Montego Bay.
