The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC®) advises that it will close its Headquarters in Barbados at 12 pm (AST) today (June 22) due to the passage of Tropical Storm Bret.

“We are committed to the safety of our employees and stakeholders, and will therefore advise of our reopening, in accordance with the guidance provided by the Barbados Meteorological Services. All calls will be forwarded to CXC’s office in Jamaica during normal business hours,” the Council wrote in a release.

Authorities in Barbados, St Lucia and Martinique have also ordered schools and nurseries closed by 1pm today ahead of the anticipated arrival of the tropical storm.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Bret was centered in the Atlantic about 200 miles east of Barbados earlier this morning.
