Innovative music collaboration app, Cyphr, has launched  an exciting music contest called JAHFROBEATS.

This contest is uniting Jamaican and African musicians, fostering cultural exchange, and creating a new sub-genre that blends the vibrant sounds of these two musical powerhouses. JAHFROBEATS invites talented artists from both regions to collaborate on a song using the Cyphr app for a chance to win cash prizes and gain recognition on a global scale.

JAHFROBEATS is an initiative that celebrates the rich musical heritage of Jamaica and Africa, bringing together artists from diverse backgrounds to create something truly unique. Top producers Chimney Records and Troublemekka have also lent their talents to the contest by submitting their riddims, adding more excitement to the mix. By leveraging the power of the Cyphr app, musicians can seamlessly collaborate, record, and produce songs directly on their mobile devices, making the creative process more accessible and engaging than ever before.

Cyphr’s CEO Dylan Brennan expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are thrilled to launch the JAHFROBEATS contest on the Cyphr app. This initiative represents our commitment to fostering collaboration and cultural exchange within the global music community. We can’t wait to see the incredible music that emerges from the creative partnerships between Jamaican and African artists.”

To participate in the JAHFROBEATS contest, artists simply need to download the Cyphr app, available for free from the Apple App Store, and begin collaborating on a song.

For African producers, the challenge is to collaborate with a Jamaican artiste, while Jamaican producers are encouraged to team up with an African artiste. Together, they can explore the fusion of styles, rhythms, and melodies, resulting in an extraordinary musical experience.

The contest will run until July 1, with the winners being determined based on the number of plays their collaborations receive on the Cyphr app.

The top three collaborations with the highest number of plays by 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) on July 1, will be awarded first, second, and third-place prizes, respectively.

The prizes for the JAHFROBEATS contest include:

  • Grand prize: US$2,500
(Split between the producer and artist, US$1,250 each)
  • First runner-up: US$1,000
(Split between the producer and artist)
  • Second runner-up: US$500
(Split between the producer and artist)

Cyphr is urging musicians worldwide to visit the app’s social media channels @cyphrmusic to learn more about the JAHFROBEATS contest and participate.
