Dancehall artist Kiprich was charged on Monday night following the creation of a dubplate promoting criminal activity.
The artiste, whose given name is Marlon Plunkett, was charged after a question-and-answer session with detectives from the St Catherine North Police Division in the presence of his attorney, Patrick Peterkin.
Kiprich was charged under section 18A of the Offences Against the Person Act for the alleged ‘use of audio, visual, or audiovisual communication to promote criminal activity.
He reportedly recorded a One Order dubplate, which his management team said was ‘spliced and changed’ to portray another message than was originally intended.
The deejay produced the custom-order dubplate for a foreign selector in light of the death of reputable One Order Gang leader Othneil ‘Thickman’ Lobban, who was killed during a shootout with police at 6 miles in Kingston on January 22.
It has been reported that Kiprich was granted station bail and given a court date.
He is expected to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, February 21.
