Jamaica’s Danielle Williams and Ackeem Blake were in outstanding form on Saturday, winning the women’s 60m hurdle and the men’s 60m dash at the New Balance Meet in Boston, USA.
Williams was quickest out of the blocks with a reaction time of .128 and streaked away in lane two to a world-leading 7.87 seconds.
The 33-year-old, who won gold at the 2015 and 2023 World Championships in the 100m hurdles, won ahead of the 2024 and 2025 World Indoor 60m hurdles champion Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas, who was second in 7.92. Christina Clemons of the USA was third with 7.94 seconds.
Jamaica’s other entrant, Megan Simmonds, was sixth in 8,21 after a poor start with a reaction time of .522 which was the worst of all the runners.
Jamaica had further success as Ackeem Blake captured the men’s 60m in a season’s best of 6.53 seconds. Puerto Rico’s Eloy Benitez was second just behind in 6.56, and American Jordon Anthony third with 6.57.

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s Brianna Lyston, who made a good return to the track after a nine-month absence, was second in the women’s 60-meter dash in 7.11 seconds. Great Britain’s 2019 200m World champion Dina Asher-Smith won the women’s race, clocking 7.08.
It was Lyston’s first race as a professional after turning pro last May when she forgo her remaining NCAA eligibility at Louisiana State University (LSU) to turn professional and signed with Adidas.
