Newcomers Springers United’s debut in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League was one of a bittersweet start after drawing 2-2 with Federal United over the weekend but they were punished for using an ineligible player and lost the point.
With 11 teams in the league that started last week, Springers were the ones inactive and their long-awaited debut looked promising in a 2-2 draw.
But they lost the point based on a breach of rule 17.2 on ineligible players.
Instead, the game was awarded to Federal United and granted a 3-0 victory, which moved them to three points in fourth spot as they had lost their opening game 1-6 to Los Perfectos last week. Springer remain at the bottom of the leader table, pointless.
Meanwhile, defending champions Frazsiers Whip continued to roll whipping Proven Girls 7-1 with National Striker Davia Richards notching her second hattrick scoring in the 31st, 37th and 85th minutes. Destiny Powell also secured a three-timer netting in the 32nd, 43rd and 55th minutes. An own goal in the 52nd minute completed the rout. Julicia Pinnock replied Proven Girls in the 39th minute.
Frazsiers Whip with their second big win are on top of the league with six points from two games, the same as Los Perfectos also on six points following their 2-0 over Wifi.
National Under-20 striker Andrene Smith scored a double in the 19th and 52nd minutes for Los Perfectos. Wifi are ninth on one point.
Cavalier SC moved into third spot on four points with a 4-1 win over Mile Gully FC. Shanel Spence bagged a three-timer in the 13th, 45th and 66th minutes while Kersa Thomas scored the fourth for Cavalier.
Samara Findlay scored a late consolation for Mile Gully in the 90+3 as they remained one point in tenth spot.
In the final game of the round, UWI blanked Real MoBay United 2-0 courtesy of Latoya Sanchez in the 66th and Thoneisha Jarrett in the 90+5.
It was their first win as they climbed to fifth spot on three points while Real MoBay are eight with a point.
