In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, Derrimon Trading Company Limited hosted a transformative Empowerment Workshop and Motivational Luncheon, dedicated to uplifting and honouring some of their remarkable women who are breaking barriers in the distribution sector.
The event, held at the company’s head office on Marcus Garvey Drive, gathered women from all corners of the organisation to recognise their invaluable contributions, share their powerful stories, and inspire one another to continue leading with strength, resilience, and purpose.

As an organisation committed to empowering women and advancing diversity and inclusion, Derrimon took this opportunity to shine a spotlight on the critical role women play in industries that have historically been male-dominated. This initiative underscores Derrimon’s belief in actively cultivating environments where women can thrive, lead, and transform the landscape of trade and manufacturing.
Through this event, the company reaffirmed its commitment to amplifying women’s voices, championing their leadership, and providing the tools needed to support their continued growth and success in these pivotal industries.

The Empowerment Workshop focused on key pillars including leadership development, self-empowerment, and fostering femininity. The session aimed to spark meaningful conversations and provide practical strategies for women to navigate being a woman in their personal and professional lives. Leading the discussion was Telecia Lindo Johnson, Leadership Coach at Coaching The Core, who delivered an inspiring and engaging address. She spoke passionately about the power of self-empowerment, self-discovery, being present and the crucial need for women to support and uplift one another. Her message of strength and unity resonated deeply with attendees, providing them with the motivation to take charge of their careers and lead with confidence.

Sharing her thoughts on this initiative, Mrs Lindo Johnson remarked, “I was excited to be a part of this Empowerment Workshop not only because I’m a woman, but because I truly appreciate when companies not only celebrate their staff but also recognise the importance of observances like International Women’s Day. I’m happy to have led this session to help the women of Derrimon connect with their true selves—oftentimes women find themselves in the corporate cycle and lose touch with who they really are.
“My aim was to remind these women that there is power in femininity and encourage them to stand firm in their feminine energy.”
Attendees, adorned in purple, a colour synonymous with strength, dignity, and justice, participated in interactive discussions that encouraged them to reflect on their own growth while identifying ways to continue breaking barriers in their respective roles.

“We are incredibly proud to honour the women at Derrimon who are not only excelling in distribution, be it trading or manufacturing but also shaping the future of these industries through their leadership and innovation. We are thankful for the messages that Mrs Lindo shared with our team today,” said Moique Cotterell, Group Human Resource Director at Derrimon Trading Company Limited. She continued, “The atmosphere today was truly inspiring and it serves as a reminder that empowering the women of Derrimon means more to us than just providing opportunities. Our aim is to create environments where they feel supported, valued, and motivated to reach their fullest potential in their personal and professional endeavours.”
The company remains steadfast in its mission to create a world where women are encouraged to lead, innovate, and thrive within the industry not only on International Women’s Day but every day of the year.
