The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) has plans to maximise the country’s association with the popular James Bond film franchise. The plan is to make an experience out of Destination Jamaica.
Various parts of the latest film in the series, No Time to Die, were shot on the island, contributing to the blockbuster being intertwined with Jamaica.
On Wednesday (November 10), the JTB, as part of its destination tour, hosted a media breakfast at the Moon Palace Hotel in Ocho Rios, St Ann where Director of Tourism Donovan White disclosed the information.
A microsite is currently being created by the team that will feature virtual bonding experiences of three of the 007 movies that were filmed on the island, namely, Dr. No, Live and Let Die and No Time to Die.
White shared that, “the team is actively now developing what we will term, for now, the Bond Trail, which will initially be a virtual experience that you can have on the Bond microsite, which will be a spin-off site of visitjamaica.com.” White also added that the experience will include some physical features where people who visit the locations will use QR codes on their mobile phones to get background information on what took place at the respective locations.
“We have had the support of the franchise owners of James Bond to be able to do this execution and we are looking forward to making it available to visitors as well as to our own Jamaicans, who, I know, have an affinity and a love affair with the Bond experience,” he added.
