The trial of the controversial hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs resumed on Monday (June 2), with the continued testimony of ‘Mia’, a former employee of the charged musician.
Mia, who worked for Combs as a personal assistant and then executive between the years of 2009 and 2017, has presented herself to the court under a pseudonym, with only the jury being made aware of her real identity via her passport picture.
Mia claims that whilst working for Diddy, she had to undergo years of abuse, whilst watching others also suffer similar mistreatment from her boss. During her time on the stand, she claimed that she developed a special and close relationship with Comb’s then-long-time partner (and the premier prosecution witness), Cassie Ventura. From this vantage point, Mia states that she was a witness to all the chaotic events that were unfolding behind the scenes.

According to Mia, Combs had placed a tracking device on Ventura’s car to monitor his girlfriend’s whereabouts, and confiscated both her phone and Cassie’s on multiple occasions. Mia went on the record saying that she did not know just what exactly Diddy was capable of, and that there were multiple times that she feared for her reputation, career and overall well-being due to his threats and actions.
The defence ruthlessly cross-examined Mia, trying to discredit her claims and question if she truly had been abused or mistreated by their client. When asked if she had ever reported any moment that Combs’ abused her, Mia admitted that she hadn’t. The witness claimed that she felt such actions were entirely pointless, and may have only ruined her reputation and deprived her of work. She cited an example of another employee of Diddy who had tried to raise awareness of Combs’ alleged abusive moments, but achieved nothing more than being fired.
Mia declared that in many ways she felt trapped in the relationship she shared with “Puff”, a nickname she had for Combs, stating that while he was “her protector”, she was also “his hostage”. Mia went on to say that, like so many of Combs’ other employees, she ended up having to cover for him, preventing anyone from discovering the true magnitude of his actions. The former Comb’s associate said this also went as far as keeping details of Diddy’s other sexual encounters from Cassie Ventura, who she believes was under the impression that the tw of them were largely “exclusive”.

To further discredit Mia’s testimony, the defence brought forward multiple videos and screenshots as evidence, which documented the witness wishing Combs a ‘Happy Birthday’ and even remaining in contact with the accused just days before the story of his activities and first allegations were revealed to the press.
Mia, however, maintains that she would have been fired if she had tried to speak out against the abuse, with the fear of retaliation preventing her from doing so even anonymously.
