As students from over 170 high schools across Jamaica gear up to compete for the coveted title of Boys and Girls champions at the 2023 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championship to be held at the National Stadium in Kingston between March 28 to April 1, new sponsor, Digicel will provide a festival of speed on and off the track.
Organisers of the event, the media and spectators alike are set to receive enhanced internet speed to support instant relay of event results and standings.
The National Stadium is the latest sports venue to rely on Digicel’s fibre network to aid in the smooth execution of the inaugural track-and-field event.
Elon Parkinson, head of Communications and Corporate Affairs for Digicel, said that “The future of sports, and practically everything we do is digital. This is why we are throwing the strength and speed of our superfast fibre and LTE networks behind Champs 2023, so that all the over 30,000 people in the stands and many more online will enjoy an immersive, digitally-powered experience.”
Organisers depend on fast, reliable fibre-powered in-stadium connectivity to share and receive race times, photos, videos, and live updates with fans everywhere in real-time, and that’s what Digicel network will be offering throughout the five intensively competitive days of Champs.
Amidst the heightened anticipation and fierce inter-school rivalry, Digicel’s tech investment will extend to its social media platforms where fans everywhere can follow @DigicelJamaica and join in on the fun, participate in giveaways, support their favourite school teams and athletes, and share the excitement with others.
Patrons at the National Stadium will get exclusive Champs phone deals, free and discounted Prime Bundle plans when they switch to Digicel and keep their mobile number.
Digicel’s entry into Champs 2023 continues the digital operators longstanding tradition of nurturing Jamaica’s young talent, having already supported many of them from ‘grassroots to greatness’, including its own brand ambassadors Usain Bolt, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Briana Williams. Digicel is committed to powering the dreams of the next generation.
