Telecoms giant Digicel has slashed the marketing department of its sports channel SportsMax.

According to sources close to the situation, the six-member department was slashed on Thursday.

Employees of the popular channel are said to be on edge as more cuts are anticipated.

“What is clear is that more cuts are coming,” one worker told Our Today.

Digicel has been executing cost-cutting measures since majority of the company changed hands from billionaire founder Dennis O’Brien to investment managers PGIM Inc, Contrarian Capital and GoldenTree Asset Management in early 2024.

There have also been staff cuts at Digicel itself.

The ownership change came on the heels of Digicel defaulting on its debt in a number of instances.
