With the return of football fans to Jamaica Premier League (JPL) games, presenting sponsor and digital operator, Digicel, is hailing the move as “another big step for local football”.
Welcoming fans back to the stands, chief marketing officer at Digicel Jamaica, Nasha-Monique Douglas, commented, “The energy that football supporters bring to the matches has been hugely missed, so we welcome the government’s announcement, and we look forward to the added excitement and enthusiasm that the fans will bring.”
“We urge all of the supporters to ensure that they follow all the required protocols, while the organisers work to ensure strict adherence in order to keep everyone safe,” Douglas added.
This is the second season that football fans have had to watch all the matches via SportsMax TV, CVM-TV, or the SportsMax app.
Since the resumption of the JPL in July 2021, tens of thousands of loyal fans have been downloading the SportsMax app to catch all the live and delayed action using Digicel’s Prime Bundle data allotments.
“Now, they can also watch the games in person, and this will surely help to lift team spirit and the level of competitiveness on the pitch,” Douglas beamed.

With more Jamaicans being vaccinated daily, expectations are that more fans will be able to enter any of the four approved venues.
Digicel said it continues to support the Government of Jamaica’s vaccination efforts through sponsorship of over US$1.5 million (J$234 million) in cash and services towards the procurement of vaccines, technical and logistics support, including a public awareness campaign, social media and text messages that help to direct persons to their nearest vaccination location.
