A district constable accused of introducing prohibited items into a correctional institution was granted $300,000 bail when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Monday.
The accused, Shemar Williams, is charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, and introducing prohibited items into a correctional facility.
Attorney-at-law Donahue Martin made the bail application before Parish Court Judge Peter Wilson.
Bail was granted under conditions.
Williams is scheduled to return to court on October 9, 2026.
Allegations are that on June 8, 2026, Williams was at the Horizon Correctional Centre when he was searched, and a quantity of ganja was allegedly found on his person.
He was subsequently charged.
