Upcoming DJ Scorpion Gosh is riding the wave of his simmering hit Fast Cash, an up-tempo dancehall track on the Spontaneous Rhythm that helped him ram venues in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where the tracks were laid and a video shot recently.

He says that he is set on reviving classic dancehall with modern influences, and currently working with his mentor Bounty Killer.

“Right now, my focus is on bussing inna Jamaica as I have already scored big in Florida through hits like Friend Turn Enemy. Fast Cash is already big there, but I want Jamaican audiences to give me the needed fawud,” Gosh said.

He noted that Fast Cash expresses “the vibe of the times when di yout dem want some cash fast, and we want the bigger heads to understand this”.

Gosh is no stranger to the music industry, having grown up in the company of his famous DJ cousins Super Cat and Silver Cat. He shared he believes it is now his time to claim his spot in the industry and collaborate with dancehall veterans such as Bounty Killer, Buju Banton, Movado, and Baby Cham.

“I’m willing to do collaborations with any of these icons,” Gosh said, “right now is the time for Scorpion Gosh, don’t mek a bokkle mash,” he adds.

He also lists artistes such as Lady Saw, Vanessa Bling, and Shaniel Muir as his inspiration.

The DJ shared that in the ’90s era of dancehall, he was exposed to entertainers such as Beenie Man, Snagga Puss, and Frisko Kid. He attributes the start of his journey to Silver Cat, who he said persuaded him to explore his talent in the early 2000s. He has since performed at shows such as Island Explosion, Follow Di Arrow, Summer Jam, and the West Kingston Jamboree, as well as many community shows across the island.
