
Micro financer Dolla Financial Services Limited donated J$1 million towards the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) telethon during the recently held JSE’s Best Practices Awards at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.
Dolla’s directors, Kadeen Mairs and Christopher Yeung, presented JSE Managing Director Marlene Street Forrest with the $1-million donation.
Slated to be held over the period December 16 -18, the JSE Telethon is aimed at raising J$100 million.
THREE PROJECTS TO BENEFIT FROM TELETHON
The telethon will be aired on the major television stations locally as well as cable channels to include the JSE’s recently established cable channel, CBX. The JSE is seeking donations from companies and individuals to fund three selected social projects currently being supported by its subsidiary, Jamaica Social Stock Exchange.
The three projects are Choose Life International, Love Changes Life and JaMIN Music Studio, a project under the Agency for Inner-city Renewal Limited.
The funds received are to be used to help:
- Inner city renewal
- Stop suicides
- Youth employment
- Educate more of the population to make healthy financial choices
