A Dominican Republic man has been charged with the murder of a Jamaican national in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Luis Guttierrez Rosario, of West Road, Grand Turk was charged on Monday (May 8), the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) said in a statement.

Rosario, 24, was charged following advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The charge against Rosario states that he murdered Stephen Asino Baker on January 15, 2023, in Palm Grove Grand Turk. At the time of his death, the 33-year-old was working as a chef.

“I wish to further reassure and emphasise to the public and families that the RTCIPF is committed to bringing prosecutions against perpetrators and when possible, closure to persons who have lost loved ones to these senseless homicides.”

“I wish to further reassure and emphasise to the public and families that the RTCIPF is committed to bringing prosecutions against perpetrators and when possible, closure to persons who have lost loved ones to these senseless homicides,” Holden added.
