Dominican Republic delivers 628 tons of humanitarian aid to support Jamaica’s recovery

Jamaica has received a shipment of humanitarian aid from the Dominican Republic to support ongoing recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Melissa.

The official handover took place on Wednesday, November 12, in Kingston, where Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Senator Kamina Johnson Smith received the donation on behalf of the government and people of Jamaica.

The aid facilitated by Manuel Duran, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Jamaica, includes food rations, mattresses, mosquito nets, blankets, bed linens and medicines.

To date, the Dominican Republic has sent over 628 tons of relief supplies across multiple shipments, with support from its Navy and Air Force, to assist communities hardest hit by the hurricane.
