
The ruling Dominica Labour Party (DLP) was on Tuesday (December 6) returned to power in the island’s 2022 general election where two independent candidates won constituencies in the 21-seat Parliament following a boycott by the main opposition political parties.
According to preliminary results released by the Electoral Office in Dominica, the DLP, won 19 seats after entering the election already having secured six seats which were uncontested.
In the Salisbury constituency, independent candidate Jesma Paul polled 617 votes to DLP candidate Lynsia Frank’s 463.
In Marigot, Anthony Charles defeated the DLP’s Gregory Riviere with 491 votes to 329 votes. Another independent candidate, Carlos Charles received six votes.
