Speaking in Florida, Group CEO of GraceKennedy Don Wehby paid tribute to one of Jamaica’s most distinguished business personalities Lascelles Chin who recently passed away.
Below is his statement:
“Lascelles Chin was a visionary leader who made immeasurable contributions to our nation’s development.
Always genuine in his interactions with everyone, throughout his life he remained committed to improving the lives of his fellow Jamaicans, particularly the unsung heroes of our civil service – our nurses, teachers, and police force. The annual LASCO/Nurse of the Year Award, Principal and Teacher of the Year Award, and Police of the Year Award, highlights excellence in our fellow countrymen, and provides encouragement to those working on the frontlines of our society.

I appreciated the value he brought to our dealings as fellow Jamaican business leaders, and the authenticity and innovation he brought to the local business community. I also have great respect for him for the genuineness of the congratulatory letters he wrote to me in recognition of GraceKennedy’s and my own achievements.
Jamaica has lost a business giant.
Our deepest sympathies are with his loved ones and the LASCO team at this time.
May his soul rest in peace.“
