Constable Noel Maitland has been remanded into custody until September 16 due to the prosecution’s refusal to disclose witness statements.
Maitland, who was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend and social media influencer Donna Lee Donaldson, will remain in police custody until matters relating to his court proceedings are addressed.
The fight for justice was delayed due to conflict with the prosecution and Maitland’s defense attorney, Kaysian Kennedy-Sherman.
It was reported that a two hour battle took place at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court today (August 22).
The prosecution reportedly refused to disclose statements from civilians, claiming that disclosure could jeopardise the investigation.
They added this is being done in the best interest of witnesses, announcing that a key witness has not reported to work for days after “certain steps” were taken against them.

However, partial disclosure was already given on August 19, shared the prosecution.
Partial disclosure was given in the form of statements from police personnel and civilians, including one from Donna-lee Donaldson’s mother, scene of crime discs, and access to a forensic report.
The argument to have the remaining statements concealed was rejected by the senior parish court judge, who stressed that they were needed for transparency.
At least 10 statements are being withheld. However, 14 statements were disclosed.
In a shocking turn of events, the prosecution also announced its intention to have the case transferred to the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston.
