It’s that pop of colour to go against a dark suit, the perfect cover-up for that missing button in the sequence, and arguably the best way to look smart.

Though the necktie harbours relatively mild risks, anyone who already struggles with health issues should pay attention to the little things that could adversely affect their well-being when wearing one.

A study conducted in 2018 and published in the journal Neuroradiology revealed that tight ties could reduce blood flow to the brain by 7.5 per cent, leading to headaches, dizziness, and nausea.

Ties could even result in glaucoma due to increased pressure in the eyes.

The narrow piece of fabric has managed to put doctors under the knife because of its mastery at carrying germs.

Many make the argument that such an unnecessary accessory should be left in the drawer rather than worn to a hospital, where the risk of spreading diseases is incredibly high unless securely clipped to one’s shirt.

General neck pain and discomfort can also be side effects of the neckwear. The good news is that the body has its way of safely counteracting the change in pressure.
