In the second round of the inaugural Middle East F4 Championship, held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi on January 22-23, Jamaican Alex Powell returned to the podium following misfortunes in Round 1, where he suffered chronic clutch issues, finishing outside of the points twice, despite claiming pole position in one of the qualifying sessions.
Driving for his new team, Race GP, round one saw the Mercedes junior driver recording P7 and P5 in qualifying, then finishing fourth in race one.
Aggressive driving in race two resulted in his first podium of the event in third, with a brilliant double-overtake maneouver in race three claiming another third place.
Powell’s podium finishes moved him up to fifth in the overall standings. There are three rounds left in the 2024 Championship, with the next race being at the Dubai Autodrome circuit on February 8-9.
The Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC) congratulates Alex for his double podium finishes.
