
Hot off their successes last year, GenXS Jamaica and Spirit of Carnival in St Lucia 2023 winners Xuvo have partnered for Carnival 2024, with both camps exhibiting a dragon theme.
Speaking with Our Today, director Matthew Waddell promised revellers excitement, dragon fire, and destruction in Half-Way Tree as the dragons are unleashed on the road for this year’s road march.
GenXS carnival season has already kicked off and its first event for the year, Immortals Battlefield, a daybreak wet fete, is set for Saturday, January 27 at 6 a.m., just in time for Trinidad Carnival in February. Jamaica’s carnival season ends in the second week of April.
This year’s rendition has nine costume choices, all in a dragon-based theme: Alero, Drakonus, Ferzanda, Magnus, Pyrax, Ragnar, Volcarnis, Wendamyr, and Xengsu.

Xuvo has been far more cryptic and secretive with its costumes for the carnival season, shrouding them in teasers and secrets that last until mid-July.
Xuvo has promised that their offering, will be completely different from GenXS’ but going by its previous showings, fans can already trust that this year’s band is going to be hot, colourful, creative, and offer a 100 per cent authentic St Lucian experience.
