Heavy rainfall in Canada’s largest city Toronto on Tuesday (July 16) flooded much of the city causing power outages, disrupting traffic, airline services and even flooding part of rapper Drake’s home, The Embassy.

Grammy-Award winning artiste posted a video which appears to show the flooding at his Toronto home with the caption “This better be Espresso Martini”

Across the world, intense rain storms are becoming more common because of climate change, and putting strain on infrastructure that in many cities is not designed to handle heavy, sustained downpours.

Reuters reported that close to 123,000 people were without power according to Toronto Hydro, the local power distribution company.

Speaking with Our Today, Rosa, a Jamaican living in Canada shared her thoughts on the flooding.

“This is my first time experience a flood of this magnitude. We’ve had three storms back to back and they have caused major damage to people’s homes and businesses. Cars are completely immersed in water on the streets. There’s no power and a lot of people have been misplaced because their homes are not safe at the moment.”
