International rap star Drake has a big heart and the importance of generosity is clear to see  in his 2018 video, God’s Plan.

He places value on considering others and bringing joy to people when you can.

The Canadian Grammy winner explained his thinking on this matter when he spoke to online tabloid MTV.com saying, “I am not into challenges on IG, I find them annoying…but today (2018) I am going to challenge everyone to just go out and do something for someone, anything, the smallest thing, just to bring another human being some joy and please tag me in it somehow so I can see all the love being spread.”

Putting his money where his mouth is the ‘Champagne Papi’ contributed US$996,631.90 to the residents of Miami while fliming his God’s Plan video.

Which begs the question, where did all of that money go?

Well, some of it went to Destiny James to help with her college education, a gift that exemplifies Drake’s largesse. The Miami Hurricane reported the US$50,000 that Drake gave to James was put to good use.

James was a junior at the University of Miami studying public health at the time.

In a lengthy Instagram post she expressed gratitude to Drake.

“This happened today. I applied to scholarships last year for which I had to write an essay. I received those scholarships and thought that was the end of it. Apparently, my essay and my story made it to other departments. I was contacted this weekend about doing a video speaking about where I come from, things I’ve been through, and why it is so important for scholarship donors to continue to donate”.

She continued: “This was the surprise the whole time. Drake told me that he has read great things about me and appreciates how hard I’ve worked through so many trials and decided to give me $50K for my tuition. @champagnepapi THANK YOU SO MUCH!!’ You don’t understand what this means to me! I would’ve never imagined this happening to me. I’m just a girl from Denmark, SC that wants to MAKE IT and be somebody and for you to see my hard work means the world. Thank you so much. God, I thank you. You are so great and amazing! Thank you for blessing me when I thought my hard work was going unnoticed. I’m living out my dreams. God’s Plan”

James has now completed her college education thanks to Drake and, in two days time, will officially become an alumna at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.

Drake’s intervention, which aided her good fortune, was indeed God’s Plan.
