Jack Draper marked his return to the ATP Tour with a straight-sets win over Quentin Halys at the Dubai Tennis Championships on Monday, ending a long spell out with a left arm injury.
Draper looked sharp from the start, landing 13 aces and winning 86% of his first serves, though he only converted one of five break points. A tense opening set went to a tiebreak, where Draper saved three set points before taking it 10-8. In the second set, he secured a crucial break in the fourth game to pull away and close the match 7-6 (10-8), 6-3.
This victory follows his recent Davis Cup triumph over Viktor Durasovic and sets up a second-round clash against the winner of Fabian Marozsan and Arthur Rinderknech.
