Dream Weekend, arguably the Caribbean’s largest party experience, is looking forward to making a huge splash when it gets under way in New York tomorrow (August 27) and up until it comes to a close on Sunday.

In a release, organisers of the party series, Dream Entertainment, said it was hoping that its return would signal a positive change for the entertainment industry which has suffered a massive blow across the world, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carlos Philpotts, marketing director of Dream Entertainment, said the outfit has used the circumstances around the pandemic to retool and re-evaluate.

“We have to be innovative in these times. We have amazing plans as Dream takes on public events once again; our outlook and our objectives are going to be different but nonetheless exciting and entertaining, possibly revolutionary,” Philpotts said.

“We have received tremendous support from the Caribbean community in New York and we are humbled.”

The organisers said plans were in high gear for the inaugural staging in New York at the Brooklyn Hangar.

“In fact we have a team in the city right now, finalising sponsorship and supplier agreements, as well as security and logistics. We are expecting an amazing turnout and patrons can expect only the best from us, in terms of safety (COVID compliant procedures), entertainment, bar and bottle services as well as catering,” Philpotts said.

“Dream plans to make a lasting impression in the NYC, we are quite encouraged that our early bird tickets are almost sold out, for which we are truly grateful to our supporters.”

After their recent staging of Dream Weekend in Negril, Jamaica, the organisers had declared that, though held on a smaller scale due to COVID-19 protocols, the series of parties was still able to generate significant business and revenue for the local economy, particularly Western Jamaica.

They have, however, been faced with public backlash seeking to lay the blame for the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Jamaica on the series of parties where some patrons were seen without masks.

But the organisers have argued that COVID-19 protocols were, for the most part, observed during each event and the Jamaican Government has stressed that there was no evidence Dream Weekend was more responsible for an increase in COVID-19 cases than any other event that took place during a period of eased restrictions on the island.

In their release, Dream Entertainment noted that an exhaustive list of DJs, including Max Glazer, Sal Infrared, Stone Love, Young Chow, Coppershot, Chromatic and Back to Basics has been confirmed for the New York event.

They said Dream Weekend in New York would also feature performances by Spice, Bunji Garlin, Serani, Ajji and Chi Ching Ching.

Patrons have also been encouraged to book early at www.dreamwkndny.com.
