DreamWorks Animation on Tuesday (July 9) announced the return of the world’s number one swamp-dwelling ogre in ‘Shrek 5‘.

Set to hit theatres in July 2026, the film promises to reunite audiences with their favourite characters, voiced once again by the iconic trio of Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, and Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona.

Eddie Murphy previously mentioned that he was in the process of filming scenes for the upcoming film as well as a ‘Donkey‘ stand-alone film.

DreamWorks has yet to reveal specific plot details, but the anticipation is already palpable. The franchise is known for its witty humour, heartwarming themes, and clever subversion of fairy tale tropes.
