Detectives assigned to the St Thomas Policing Division have laid murder charges against two men following the stabbing death of 41-year-old Eaton Whittle of Fort Leith Hall district, St Thomas, on Wednesday, February 18.

Charged are 45-year-old Dwayne Capleton, otherwise called ‘Tall Man,’ and 41-year-old Oneil Stewart, both of Fort Leith Hall district, St Thomas.

Reports from the Morant Bay police are that at about 1:35 am, the men were among patrons at a bar when an argument developed between Capleton, Stewart, and Whittle. The dispute escalated into a physical confrontation during which Capleton reportedly used a knife to stab Whittle in the chest.

Both men then fled the scene on foot. Whittle was taken to the hospital, where he later died while undergoing treatment.

The incident was reported to the police, and an investigation was launched. Both men were subsequently arrested during a targeted police operation and were later charged following an identification parade.

They are scheduled to appear before the court on Tuesday, March 24.
