

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake was felt across some eastern Caribbean islands on Tuesday, according to the Trinidad-based Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine.
The quake was said to have occurred at 1:55 am in Trinidad with a depth of 125 kilometres. It was reportedly felt 68 kilometres east-northeast of Kingstown, the capital of St Vincent and the Grenadines, and 85 kilometres southeast of Castries in St Lucia, and west-northwest of Bridgetown, Barbados.
Tuesday’s quake followed the recording of a 2.9 magnitude tremor that was felt in the eastern section of Jamaica Monday afternoon.
The Earthquake Unit at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona confirmed the tremor. The reported epicentre was approximately 10 kilometres southwest of Buff Bay, in Portland and was felt at 3:51 pm as far as the hilly community of Mavis Bank in St Andrew.
