Minister of Education and Youth, the Honourable Fayval Williams has condemned Thursday’s (June 15) stabbing of a Cumberland High School student which she described as ‘a dastardly and barbaric attack’.

A video footage which circulated on social media platforms showed the student being kicked and beaten by a group of young men along the roadway outside the school compound.

He was later seen staggering across the roadway with blood flowing from the region of his head and neck. The student was rushed to the hospital where he was admitted.

“These kinds of attacks happen far too frequently in our society. We must end this cycle of violence and reprisals. We are blighting the future of these students and crippling the nation’s progress,” Minister Williams said.

The Minister has appealed for the public to share whatever information they have that can help the police in their investigations.
