
Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon, has expressed deep sorrow following the deaths of three children and an adult in a tragic two-vehicle collision along the Crawford to Font Hill main road near the St Elizabeth–Westmoreland border on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Jeneen Dawkins, Antwasia Ledgister, Johnessa Dunkley, and Janelia Dunkley.
In response to the incident, the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information has activated its critical incident response protocols, with counselling and psychosocial support being provided to affected school communities.
According to the Ministry, its Guidance and Counselling Unit is working closely with school administrators to support students, teachers, and staff impacted by the tragedy.
“This is a devastating tragedy that has shaken our nation, and particularly our education family,” Minister Morris Dixon said. “We mourn the lives lost and extend our deepest condolences to the families, loved ones, classmates, teachers, and communities who are grieving.”
She said counselling teams have been mobilised to ensure emotional support is available during what she described as an extremely difficult period for those affected.
The Minister also underscored the importance of compassion, collective support, and heightened road safety awareness as the country reflects on the loss of life.
The Ministry said it will continue to monitor the situation and remains prepared to provide ongoing psychosocial assistance as needed. Members of the public have been encouraged to keep the affected families and communities in their thoughts.
