Five-time Olympic gold medallist Elaine Thompson-Herah has reportedly joined Tumbleweed Track Club in Jacksonville, Florida, under coach Rana Reider, as she prepares for the 2025 athletics season.

After a challenging few years marred by injuries and coaching changes, Thompson-Herah is looking to revitalise her career in the competitive setting of the US-based club. She is preparing for a grand return to the top, especially after missing out on the Paris 2024 Olympics due to an Achilles injury.

Thompson-Herah, departure from Jamaica’s MVP Track Club in 2021, where she trained for a decade, was driven by a desire for individual focus and a change in training philosophy. Since then, she has worked briefly with coaches Shanikie Osbourne and Reynaldo Walcott, but each partnership was short-lived.

Jamaica secured a 1-2-3 sweep in the women’s 100m sprint at the 2022 World Championships, with (from left ) Shericka Jackson securing silver; World Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, gold, and Elaine Thompson-Herah, bronze.

The move to Tumbleweed Track Club is her fifth coaching change in three years. Reider, known for his success with elite sprinters, offers a stable base that may support Thompson-Herah’s goal of returning to the podium.

As Thompson-Herah embarks on this new chapter, her fans and the track world are eager to see if she can recapture her record-breaking form for the 2025 season and beyond.
