Elaine Thompson-Herah closes out her track season with a win in the women’s 100m at the Wanda Diamond League final in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday (September 9).

Thompson-Herah, starting in lane five, ran a spritely 10.65 seconds in first ahead of Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Ajla del Ponte, who claimed second and third in 10.87s and 10.93s respectively.

Natasha Morrison, Jamaica’s second representative in the race, finished seventh in 11.10s.

Thompson-Herah broke a 37-year-old meet record with her run, erasing the previous best time of 10.76s by Evelyn Ashford of the United States back in August 1984.

The Jamaican also wrests the Diamond League title from compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce as Thompson-Herah secured her first Diamond Trophy since 2017.
