Voicemail, who delivered dance anthems in early 2000s showed their support for the Wray Rum-sponsored event, Strictly 2K last Saturday, May 28, at Mas Camp.

“Dancehall nice again!”

Are you even Jamaican if you haven’t had at least one Elephant Man song stuck in your head?

Strictly 2K returned for its first major staging since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and so did dancehall superstar Elephant Man!

The Energy God, in his usual style, delivered unmatched liveliness during his set.

Pulling patrons in with hits Crazy Hype, Warm up, Get On Up And Dance, Get Jiggy and Gully Creeper to name a few.

With Wray Rum in hand, these patrons were ready to party and dance up a storm during Saturday’s staging of Strictly 2K at Mas Camp, a Wray Rum sponsored event.

The venue overflowed with patrons singing the best hits of the 2000s to the early 2010s. Every hit spun by DJ Chrome, Chromatic Live and Coppershot Music was certainly ‘good to gizzle’ and met with loud support from the dance-happy crowd.

Didn’t make it to the event? Here are five things you missed at Strictly 2K.

● Dancing galore. Elephant man not only brought the energy, but he also brought his arsenal of dancing hits that kept the party crowd on their feet, quite literally. From Log on to his latest single Touch Yuh Head the sea of music lovers danced along to every lyric.
● Wraytastic drinks. The drink inclusive Strictly 2k was sponsored by Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum, which meant a wide variety of Wray Rum mixes flowed all night for patrons to enjoy responsibly.
● Dance legends. To top off the dancing experience, a few of dancehall’s dancing legends were present to remind patrons of the moves they created with the same vigour as if no time had passed. Keiva the Diva, Mad Michelle and Shelly Belly, among others were there to remind partygoers of the best moves of the 2000s.
● Celebrities spotted. It looks like everyone was excited for the return of the Strictly 2K music festival. The world’s fastest man Usain Bolt was present and accounted for. So too were the members of Voicemail, who were spotted enjoying the dance moves they helped to popularise.

● 90s and early 2000s fashion takeover. Mesh merinos and jerseys made a comeback for partygoers. Many completed the experience by dressing in their best interpretation of the musical era. The “fashion over style” looks inspired by the late dancehall dancer Bogle were definitely noteworthy.

Strictly 2K was held on May 28 at Mas Camp, with Elephant Man as the headlining act.
